Connect your AI (MCP)
ShopPress is MCP-first. Everything you can do in the app, an AI assistant can do through the Model Context Protocol, for your store only.
Connect
- In ShopPress open AI connection (MCP) and press Create token. Copy it now; it is shown once.
- In your AI client add a custom MCP connector:
- Server address:
https://shoppress.automatorcloud.com/api/mcp - Header:
Authorization: Bearer <your token> - Ask in plain language, for example:
- "Audit my product images and tell me the three biggest problems."
- "Preview alt text with the pattern '{vendor} {title} – image {n}', show me 5 examples, then apply it."
- "Undo the last change."
- "Write a ShopPress plugin that tags new products by vendor."
Revoke a token any time on the same page. Tokens only work while ShopPress is installed. A token can't create other tokens or reach another store.

The AI sees only the tools of modules that are switched on (and allowed by your plan).

Safety rules for AIs
- Tools that change your store need
confirm: true. Good assistants show you a preview first. - Everything can be undone (
undo_change_batch,restore_point_restore). - The one-time payment returns Shopify's approval page; you approve the charge yourself.
- Code the AI writes (custom Liquid, custom widgets, templates with code) waits until you approve it in the app. The AI can't switch on custom code, approve outside websites for plugins or delete store content.
- Access tokens have levels: Full, Builder (design, pages and content only) or Read only.
- Plugin runs that delete data need
allowDangerous: true, only after you agreed.
